City and Guilds Fashion and Pattern Cutting
Courses start dates 2013: 9 July (evenings), 11 and 19 September (daytimes)

I am delighted to be able to offer, as an assessment centre attached to Link2Create Ltd, level 1 and 2 City and Guilds Fashion and Pattern Cutting.
City & Guilds 7160 2 Award Levels 1 and 2
City and Guilds craft qualifications are recognised for their high standards and commitment to practical skills.
The Fashion and Pattern Cutting qualification is in a modular format across a wide range of garments. For the Award scheme you will undertake one module at a time but can subsequently undertake other modules within the qualification scheme (across levels 1 and 2) on a rolling programme building a comprehensive portfolio of skills in a flexible way. Qualifications under this scheme are marked at pass, merit or distinction for each module.
Level 1 Award Fashion
You will undertake one module at a time at level 1.
This level is for anyone new to dressmaking or for those of you with skills but who have not undertaken a formal qualification in garment construction before. It introduces the principles of design, designing and planning a garment, sampling construction techniques and the construction of one garment per module from the list below.

Level 2 Award Fashion
You will undertake one module at at a time at level 2 from the list below.
For students who have provable dressmaking skills they would like to explore further and gain a recognised qualification. If you have undertaken a level 1 unit you will build on these skills. Garments at level 2 will utilise more complex techniques and design components and a small amount of background research.

Level 2 Award Pattern Cutting
You will undertake one module at a time at level 2 from the list below.
For students how have proveable dressmaking skills and would like to make their own basic blocks and patterns to personal body measurements. The adaptation units have a design component. You will be required to undertake a small amount of background research.

This course is for anyone whether a beginner or experienced sewer from any sewing discipline who wants to learn how to use their machine to its full potential. Explore your machine's capabilities by using a range of feet, threads, and free machine embroidery to produce surface decoration and texture. You will use a simple design ideas and your new skills to produce a unique, stylish cushion, bag or garment decoration. Not just a course for dressmakers but all craft areas, for example machine embroidery, patchwork, quilting and general stitched crafts. The course is 30 guided learning hourse. There will be about 10 hours (as recommended by City and Guilds) self-directed study outside the taught hours. All work must be produced for internal and external verification at a future date to gain certification. |

Guided Learning Hours and Independent Study
Level 1 and 2 Award modules are taught over 35 hours per module. You will be expected to work in your own time in addition to the 35 taught hours, approximately 10 additional hours at level 1 and 30 at level 2.
Assessment
On-going tutor assessment. Internal verification by an independent tutor. External moderation by City & Guilds. To gain certification all work must be produced for assessment.
Course Structure
Either one full day per month (Wednesdays or Thursdays) for 6 months or one evening per month (Tuesdays) for 11 months.
Cost
Group tuition - £340 for one Award (one module/one garment at level 1 and 2). This cost includes City & Guilds registration and certificate.
Maximum group number is usually 5.
Students will be expected to provide their own materials and fabrics.
One-to-one tuition - price on application.
Payment
A non-refundable deposit of £150 payable on booking and the non-refundable balance 6 weeks before the course commences.
Bookings less than 6 weeks before commencement fees are payable in full and are non-refundable.
